Dear Parents,
Our Shabbos morning Youth Groups are in full swing. If your child is not yet taking part
in the new Shabbos Groups, he/she is truly missing out on a wonderful opportunity to
grow. Under the direction of our new Youth Director Elliot Friedman, the youth program
has been revamped to provide a truly enriching experience for our children. The
objective is clear - to make Shabbbos fun and meaningful. With this in mind, the new
program is intended to expose children to the beauty and importance of Shabbos.
Consequently, an emphasis on learning about Shabbos has been incorporated into the
youth program curriculum. Other important concepts regarding tefilah, kovod
hamakom, respect for others, and working together towards worthy goals will be
reinforced in a fun and enriching environment. Our talented youth leaders are excited
about the new program and so are the children that attend.
A Registration Form to enroll your child(ren) is available at the push of the button above.
If you have not already registered your child(ren) and would like to do so, please return
the completed form no later than Thursday 11/17. Children that are not registered by
then will not be allowed to attend groups beginning Shabbos Chayei Sarah (11/19). This
means you can send your children for a "free trial" this Shabbos. I hope you will take
advantage of this opportunity.
Some parents have expressed concern regarding the registration fee of $100/child with
a maximum of $300. I would like to address this so everyone understands clearly what
is involved. The basic cost to run Shabbos Groups including salaries for the Director
and Group Leaders plus supplies (paper goods, nosh, prizes etc) is approximately
$200/week. Currently there are 35 children registered making the actual cost $5.70/week
per child. The registration fee of $100 covers 40 weeks of Shabbos Groups which is
equal to only $2.50/week per child. This is an incredibly low price when you consider
what is being offered.
Obviously, there is no obligation to register your child(ren) for Shabbos Groups.
However, if your child is not registered for groups, please make certain that when at
Shul they are properly supervised at all times during davening. No child should be left
unattended while on the Shul premises. Children that are left unattended create a
safety issue as well as a disturbance to the Kehila and to the groups in session. Please
be considerate of others and supervise your children accordingly. Children left
unattended will be promptly escorted back to their parent for supervision. In order to
maintain the proper Sanctity of the Shul, this rule will be strictly enforced.
I want to thank you all in advance for your cooperation. Please feel free to speak with
me directly if you have any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
Jay Staple PRESIDENT
